Care Guide

Each Lessons London cardigan is made from 100% natural wool and knitted by hand, slowly and with care.

Wool is a remarkable fibre. It’s naturally breathable, self-cleaning, and designed to be worn often and washed rarely. With a little understanding, your cardigan will soften, shape to you, and age beautifully over time.

Let it breathe

After wearing, your cardigan doesn’t need immediate washing. Simply let it rest draped over a chair or laid flat near an open window and it will naturally freshen itself.

Fresh air does most of the work.

When washing is needed

If something needs attention, spot clean gently with cool water and a small amount of mild soap.

When a full wash is needed, always wash by hand in cool water using a gentle wool detergent. Avoid rubbing, wringing, or twisting. Gently press out excess water and lay flat to dry, reshaping while damp.

Heat and agitation are what wool dislikes most keeping things cool and calm is key.

Pilling (Bobbling): What to expect

As with all real wool knitwear, small bobbles may appear with wear. This is completely normal and a natural characteristic of 100% wool, especially chunky, hand-knitted pieces.

Pilling happens as fibres settle and respond to movement. It’s not a fault, but a sign of honest, untreated wool. Any bobbles can be easily removed with a wool comb or sweater stone to keep your cardigan looking its best.

Storage & care between seasons

Always store your cardigan folded, never hung, to help it keep its shape.

We recommend storing your knit in the Lessons dust bag it arrived in, with the touch of cedar found inside to help keep it fresh and protected while resting.

Natural moth deterrents such as cedar or lavender work beautifully and gently.
